QI:NOBE, MiLu Bing etc get a Comeback Chance!

Yes, we agree it was almost blasphemous that QI:NOBE and MiLu Bing were booted off the competition in previous weeks. Yes, and some of you may say the same of Juz-B and AMBER too. (Summer Breeze? No, let's not even go there, mate...)

But curse no more, 'coz redemption day is here! A SuperBand Comeback Show 2 has been arranged for these five bands next Monday July 3 and even though only one of them get to slink their way back to the Semi-Finals, we're not really complaining. Like the previous Comeback Show, points given by the judges' stand for 70% while audience votes 30%.

SINGAPORE: 3G mobile phone users in Singapore can now watch television news reports while on the move.

The new service, by Channel NewsAsia for SingTel subscribers, is part of MediaCorp's strategy to deliver news not just on air and online but also on demand and on the go.

This new service provides video clips compacted into one-minute news reports to your mobile phone, helping you keep up with the latest news wherever you are.

"CNA Mobile is specifically producing news bulletins for the mobile screen. It's clearer because the pictures are closer, the shot sizes are closer and the graphics are bigger. We are pushing it out twice a day but I think if demand grows we can push it more times a day so it's really perfect for someone on the go and they just want to be updated by the headlines," said Woon Tai Ho, CEO, MediaCorp News.

CNA Mobile is part of MediaCorp's broader strategy to deliver content-on-the-go, and to meet new viewership needs.

"MediaCorp believes that going into the future, the media has to embrace what I call the 4 "ons". The first "on" is "on-air" - this is something that we are all familiar with - which is broadcasting. And we also have to embrace "online", which is actually delivering through the Internet and IT network. It will be "on demand", pushing as and when you want it and "on the go". So if you look at these 4 "ons", if you look at CNA Mobile that we are offering, I think it fits very well into this," said Lucas Chow, Group CEO, MediaCorp.

The CNA Mobile service is currently available in English and Mandarin from Monday to Friday, and will be extended to weekends later this year. - CNA /dt

Bank ATM's Converted to Steal IDs of Bank Customers

A team of organized criminals are installing equipment on legitimate bank ATM's in at least 2 regions to steal both the ATM card number and the PIN. The team sits nearby in a car receiving the information transmitted wirelessly over weekends and evenings from equipment they install on the front of the ATM (see photos below).

If you see an attachment like this, do not use the ATM and report it immediately to the bank using the phone on the front of the ATM. The equipment used to capture your ATM card number and PIN are cleverly disguised to look like normal ATM equipment. A "skimmer" is mounted to the front of the normal ATM card slot that reads the ATM card number and transmits it to the criminals sitting in a nearby car.

At the same time, a wireless camera is disguised to look like a leaflet holder and is mounted in a position to view ATM PIN entries.

The thieves copy the cards and use the PIN numbers to withdraw thousands from many accounts in a very short time directly from the bank ATM.

Equipment being installed on front of existing bank card slot.

The equipment as it appears installed over the normal ATM bank slot.

The PIN reading camera being installed on the ATM is housed in an innocent looking leaflet enclosure.

The camera shown installed and ready to capture PIN's by looking down on the keypad as you enter your PIN.

Spaceport Singapore: One-Stop Shopping for the Future Space Tourist

From Space

SINGAPORE -– An effort to build a suborbital spaceport destination to cater to space-hungry tourists and families is pushing forward in Singapore, where aviation authorities are developing a homegrown set of regulations for commercial spaceflight.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CCAS) is laying the groundwork here for the rules to govern flights out of Spaceport Singapore, a planned $115 million (SGD $191 million) project to offer suborbital spaceflights and a host of other experiences to adventure-seeking tourists.

"Commercial passenger suborbital spaceflight is very new to Singapore and for [the] CAAS," said Constanze Chia, assistant manager of corporate communications for Singapore’s aviation authority, in a statement. "We are in the initial stage of formulating the appropriate set of regulations."

Slated to open in 2009, Spaceport Singapore is the brainchild of a consortium of investors and the Virginia-based adventure tourism firm Space Adventures, which announced the project – alongside plans for a United Arab Emirates spaceport and a fleet of suborbital Explorer spacecraft– earlier this year.

"We want to have different experiences available in as many different places as possible," said Eric Anderson, president and CEO for Space Adventures, in a telephone interview. "We’re really hoping to just get out there and give people the opportunity to experience space."

Space Adventures also offers rides aboard Russian MiG jet aircraft, a modified jet that simulates weightlessness during parabolic flights, and $20 million trips to the International Space Station (ISS). The firm has also announced plans for $100 million trips around the Moon.

Japanese entrepreneur Daisuke Enomoto is set to ride a Russian Soyuz spacecraft to the ISS in September as the fourth tourist to the orbital laboratory. While orbital spaceflight has been the realm of astronauts and millionaires, Spaceport Singapore hopes to make access to suborbital space a more affordable experience.

A one-stop space destination

While the UAE spaceport would host suborbital flights, the Singapore base near Changi International Airport is expected to offer a wider range of services including:

  • A five-day astronaut training regime for suborbital spaceflights aboard an Explorer vehicle.
  • Flight simulators for jet and suborbital vehicles, as well as parachute and ejection seat trainers.
  • A neutral buoyancy tank to allow customers a taste of spacewalk training.
  • Aircraft flights to simulate weightlessness or the extreme speed of a high-performance jet.
  • An interactive center where visitors can watch others undertake astronaut training activities, experience flight simulators and rides, sample Earthbound and astronaut food in a restaurant, or visit the ever-present gift shop.
  • A Space Adventures Camp for children.

"It’s a lot like a pyramid to cater to all ages and all price ranges," said Nick Marrett, founder of the Singapore-based firm Octtane and a spaceport consortium member, in an interview.

Michael Lyon, project manager for Spaceport Singapore, told SPACE.com that he hopes to include a virtual observatory in the visitor’s center where users could tap into remote telescopes for live views of the night sky.

"Spaceport Singapore is not just about taking people to space," Lyon said, adding that basing a spaceport at Singapore’s Changi airport allows spaceflights to launch over water, rather than land, reducing the risk for people on the ground. "It’s much more dynamic and interactive."

Space Adventures and consortium members have been working with Singapore authorities – ranging from aviation and defense personnel to the Singapore Tourism Board – to develop Spaceport Singapore and received tentative approval for the project last year, despite lacking all of the funding required to push forward, consortium members said.

"We expect to raise the necessary funds by the end of the year," Marrett said.

Marrett said that once the initial $115 million has been raised, construction of Spaceport Singapore could begin about six months later.

A new kind of port city

Singapore tourism officials are hopeful that the planned spaceport will be both and economic and image boon for a nation-state that drew a record 8.94 million visitors in 2005.

"We see Spaceport Singapore as having the potential to become an iconic attraction that would a appeal to a range of audiences," said Chang Chee Pey, director of cluster development, sightseeing and cruise for the Singapore Tourism Board, told SPACE.com in an e-mail interview. "We believe Spaceport Singapore will also enhance Singapore’s international reputation for cutting edge technology and innovation."

More than 500,000 annual visitors are expected at the planned spaceport during its first 30 months of operation, and the project itself could generate up to 5,000 direct or indirect jobs and about $2.3 billion (SGD $3.6 billion in economic benefits during its first decade, Chang said.

"There’s really only three countries in the world where you can take a spaceflight (the U.S., Russia and China) and they’re all superpowers," said Lyon. "Singapore would be the first public spaceport located in a major city, rather than out in the desert or remote areas."

In addition to the planned spaceport, work is already underway for two casino resorts to attract more tourists and revenue to Singapore.

"Singapore is at a turning point in terms of tourism," Lyon said.

The project also builds on Singapore’s reputation as a port city, first for sea-bound ships berthing at its sheltered harbor, then later for its international airport, spaceport officials said.

"They have one of the premiere seaports in the world and their airport is one of the best in the world as well," Anderson, chief of Space Adventures, said of Singapore. "The whole idea of a spaceport falls in line with their long term strategy."

Rihanna - Unfaithful

Story of my life
Searching for the right
But it keeps avoiding me
Sorrow in my soul
Cause it seems that wrong
Really loves my company

He's more than a man
And this is more than love
The reason that the sky is blue
But clouds are rolling in
Because I'm gone again
And to him I just can't be true

And I know that he knows I'm unfaithful
And it kills him inside
To know that I am happy with some other guy
I can see him dying

I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna be the reason why
Everytime I walk out the door
I see him die a little more inside
I don't wanna hurt him anymore
I don't wanna take away his life
I don't wanna be...
A murderer

I feel it in the air
As I'm doing my hair
Preparing for another date
A kiss up on my cheek
He's here reluctantly
As if I'm gonna be out late
I say I won't be long
Just hanging with the girls
A lie I didn't have to tell
Because we both know
Where I'm about to go
And we know it very well

Cause I know that he knows I'm unfaithful
And it kills him inside
To know that I am happy with some other guy
I can see him dying

I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna be the reason why
Everytime I walk out the door
I see him die a little more inside
I don't wanna hurt him anymore
I don't wanna take away his life
I don't wanna be...
A murderer

Our Love, his trust
I might as well take a gun and put it to his head
Get it over with
I don't wanna do this
Anymore
Uh
Anymore (anymore)

I don't wanna do this anymore
I don't wanna be the reason why
Everytime I walk out the door
I see him die a little more inside
And I don't wanna hurt him anymore
I don't wanna take away his life
I don't wanna be...
A murderer (a murderer)

No no no no

Yeah yeah yeah

New Rape Tactic .... Careful...

My friend sent this article to me… Not sure if this is really true... Ermm… just be extra careful.

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE PLEASE !!!!!!!

She was just discharged from the hospital........

Today after office hours, I heard from my sister-in-law that there is a new way to rape women. It happened to one of our good friends.

The girl left the office after working hours and saw a little child crying on the road. Feeling pity for the child, she went and ask what happened. The child said, "I am lost. Can you take me home please?"

Then the child gave her a slip and tell the girl where the address is. And the girl, being an average kind person, didn't suspect anything and took the child there. And there when it arrived the "child's home", she pressed the door bell, yet she was shocked as it the bell was wired with high voltage, and fainted.

The next day when she woke up, she found herself in an empty house up in the hills, naked. She has never even get to see the face of the attacker...

That's why nowadays crimes are targeted on kind people

Next time if the same situation occurs, never bring the child to the intended place. If the child insist, then bring the child to the police station.

Space Adventures Confirms Fourth Space Tourist

Japanese entrepreneur Daisuke 'Dice-K' Enomoto is officially confirmed to become the world's fourth space tourist later this year, Space Adventures announced today.

The Virginia-based company also confirmed that X Prize sponsor Anousheh Ansari will be Enomoto's official backup, putting her in line to become the world's first paying female space tourist.

Currently, the two are undergoing training together at the Gagarin Cosmonauts Training Center, also known as "Star City," said Space Adventures' president and CEO Eric Anderson.

"Their training is going great so far and they're both fantastic clients," Anderson told SPACE.com.

Enomoto is scheduled to join the 14th Expedition Crew which also includes NASA astronauts Michael Lopez-Alegria and Russian Cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin. The flight is tentatively scheduled for a September 15th launch, Anderson said.

In addition to Ansari, the backup crew named to support the Soyuz TMA-9 mission includes NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson and Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko. No date has been set yet for Ansari's flight.

Rumors had been circulating in Russian media reports since mid-March that Ansari would be the backup, but the official announcement was made only today.

"We just decided to delay the announcement until such time as the crew was officially named," Anderson said.

According to Anderson, Ansari first expressed interest in becoming Enomoto's backup a few months ago.

"Anousheh and I first discussed the idea of her becoming part of the backup crew last October," he said.

Ansari is perhaps best known for helping to provide the seed money for the Ansari X Prize spaceflight competition, which offered $10 million to the first team to build and launch a privately-funded, piloted spacecraft to suborbital space and back twice in two weeks. That contest was won by Burt Rutan's SpaceshipOne in June of 2004.

The Ansari family recently partnered with Space Adventures to develop the tourism company's Explorer spacecraft for suboribital flights from Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.

Space Adventures is the company responsible for brokering a series of flights to the International Space Station for high-paying entrepreneurs, beginning in 2001 with U.S. businessman Dennis Tito. South African entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth followed in 2002, with U.S. scientist and businessman Gregory Olsen launching in 2005. Each of those flights, like Enomoto’s, carried a reported cost of about $20 million.

Like his predecessors, Enomoto will spend about one week aboard the ISS before returning to Earth. Space Adventures officials have also announced that former Microsoft software developer Charles Simonyi is also set to visit the ISS. Anderson said that it's also possible that Ansari will fly on a future mission even if Enomoto makes his flight.

"If and when Anousheh decides to fly on an orbital mission, we will be very proud to announce that," he said.
